Celebrate Love: Tips For Your BEST Valentine's Day Yet

Feb 7th 2019

Tips for Best Valentine's DayWhether you like it or not, the annual "Hallmark" holiday is swiftly approaching and we're only a few weeks out from cupid, teddy bears, candies, and sweet nothings. For some of us, the day is another reason to celebrate those we love and for others, it's a day to be avoided like the plague. Wherever you land on the scale, why not choose to make this day of love your BEST Valentine's Day yet? The PillowCubes team is sharing a few ideas that just might help you reach the goals!

1) PLAN AHEAD
If you're choosing a night on the town or a romantic evening at home, it never hurts to make sure you plan ahead. Be sure to make reservations in advance, purchase any and all necessary food-related items, set the mood lighting with proper candles and other decoration items, and make this Valentine's Day one for the books with proper planning! More into celebrating the day with friends or the whole family? Again: PLAN AHEAD! Waiting to the last minute never made anyone happy, so ensuring you have all you need far in advance will equip you to make this your favorite love day yet.

2) VOLUNTEER TOGETHER
Typically, Valentine's Day is marked by loving on those closest to you... but why not share the love with others who may not have the opportunity to be loved as well? Donate your time or supplies to a local soup kitchen, make Valentine's Day cards with encouraging messages to give to the homeless, or make care packages filled with candy and nice messages for a women and children's shelter. You never know who's life you might touch with the simple effort of spreading some love. Need some ideas? VolunteerMatch.com is a great place to discover local opportunities and needs

3) AVOID THE CROWDS ... MAKE A MEAL AT HOME
Sure, Valentine's Day might be a great night to try out that new, fun restaurant in that funky part of town. But why not go the opposite direction and avoid the crowds? Choose a cuisine theme (for example, Italian, Greek, Baja...), then divide and conquer the duties! One person may be in charge of cocktails, an appetizer, and a salad and the other oversees the main course, a side, and dessert. Turn up the tunes and enjoy a night of culinary fun together! This type of celebration is also a great option for those celebrating a "friends only" or "galentine's" evening. Looking for some recipe inspiration?

4) TASTE THE WINES OF YOUR CITY
Still hoping to make it out during the holiday hustle? Rather than trying to conquer restaurant crowds, why not eat at home then spend the rest of the evening visiting a few wine bars or small craft-cocktail bars? Not only will it be a way to get out and taste some of what your city has to offer, but it will also be a fun date night!

5) VISIT A MUSEUM
Most cities and towns have hidden museum gems, but many of us don't take the time to explore and find them! Use Valentine's Day as an excuse to explore a new museum... even if it's just a smaller, "hole-in-the-wall" local option!

6) HAVE AN INDOOR PICNIC
No need to gussy up! Throw some cozy pillows on the floor, make a variety of appetizers, and enjoy an evening of casual, indoor one-on-one time! This simple Valentine's Date is simple and will be easy to throw together... even for those who did not follow our first tip (PLAN AHEAD!).
