Restoring Old Memories with New Pillows

May 3rd 2018

Pillows have the opportunity to store some of our greatest dreams and sweetest memories. They provide a place of rest in the evenings, a cozy place to land while curled up on the couch, and sparks of color and pizzaz to otherwise dull settings. But have you ever paused to think how you could use pillows to actually store and preserve sweet memories? Luckily, we work with creative customers who have and we are always thrilled to see what they come up with!

When we connected with our friend Jane of Maiden Jane about a collaboration, she was in the midst of a project to preserve the beautiful nightgown of a young lady. As soon as we heard about it, we were on board to support! Not only is Jane's eye for creativity one of a
kind, but her sewing skills are incomparable and we've always enjoyed standing by to see what she will come up with next!

While Jane has used our handmade pillow inserts in the past as a way to preserve special memories, this project was a bit more unique. She needed something that would capture the daintiness and delicacy of the youthful, pink nightgown, but also something that would maintain the interesting ruching and true character of the well-loved gown as it was cut and stretched. That's when the idea for using a PillowCubes bolster insert came to life! Originally, we were going to stick with the eco-friendly version of the bolster, but later decided to go with our popular 5" x 18" polyester woven bolster. The poly-woven choice is a favorite among many of our customers due to its overall quality (we purpose to use only the best materials), its allergen-free components, and - of course- their overall comfort! A

After the bolster was sent Jane's way, it was only a matter of time before she put her creative juices to work and created a beautifully preserved memory! We could not be more fond of the final projects if were the customer themselves. The attention to detail, placement of ruching, and dainty eyelet truly bring this memory-filled bolster together! You can view Jane's entire in-depth tutorial HERE
