Oct 11th 2018

If you haven't gathered from our last few blog posts, we're pretty big fall fans around here at PillowCubes. Whether it's checking things off our October bucket list making and baking yummy fall treats, or incorporating new traditions into our Autumn routines, this season is always one ripe with fun activities!

Perhaps one of our favorite aspects of this pumpkin-laden time of year is all of the cozy decor that comes along with it. Lovely mantles, welcoming front porches, and warmed corners make our designer-focused hearts pitter patter. Today, we're partnering with a few industry experts to share favorite, easy tips and tricks for making your home the best it can be for fall:

Fall Decor Ideas

"Just add apples1 The easiest, least expensive, and healthiest way to add a little autumn to your home is by filling your favorite wooden salad bowl with bright Green Granny Smith apples! They make a beautiful centerpiece as well as the perfect snack for hungry kiddos. Enjoy!"

2) Add Cozy Elements (From

Fall Decor Tip

"When transitioning your decor from summer to fall, focus on adding simple, "cozy" elements to the space. Thnk warm colors and soft textures. I typically do this by replacing the blooms and flowers in my floral arrangements with twigs or fall-colored stems & adding faux fur or velvet throw blankets and pillows"

3) Upcycle & DIY (From Maiden Jane) Instagram: @MaidenJane

"Since I don't have a lot of room to store seasonal decor items, I try to find simple accents or an "upcycled" DIY project to freshen up my home!"

4) Handcrafted Coziness (From Sawmill Camerretti) | Instagram: @SawmillCamerretti

"The coziness of a generously sized, richly cabled or textured crochet pillow on a chilly day... need I say more! But really, being able to snuggle up with a good book or movie with a soft, cuddly pillow with a throw blanket on a cold day is really one of life's true luxuries in our busy lives. Richly crafted items of fine fiber made with love by yourself or someone who took the time to handcraft for you is something that should be savored and enjoyed!"

5) Simple Neutrals (From Bei Fiori Embellish) Instagram: @BeiFioriEmbellishFall Pillow Covers

"I like to keep my fall decorations simple and neutral. I don't decorate for Halloween, so I use the decorations that will go from the beginning of the fall through Thanksgiving. I like to sue baskets or mums and pumpkins on my front porch, and have a bench on my porch which is a great spot for seasonal pillows!"

6) Inviting, Cozy Textures (From This Home Here)  Instagram: @ThisHomeHere

"Fall means it's getting a bit crisp, right?! Creating a cozy, warm, inviting space really ties in the season. Think textures, woodsy neutrals, & little pops of color. I stick to neutrals for my large (more expensive) decor pieces & add pops of burnt orange & burgundies that are easy to swap out if I change my theme next year. I love bringing the outdoors inside with twigs, wheat, hay, and - of course - pumpkins!"

7) Let the Fireplace Shine (From T.Moore Home) | Instagram: @TMooreHome

"If you have a fireplace, Fall and Winter are the times to let it shine. Of course you could just start with a fire, but I like to really add some touches that make a big impact. Overload your mantle with shiny and beautiful objects that give it a little extra shimmer. Add a faux eucalyptus garland that will last thru Spring. By sticking to your space's distinct style and color way, these updates will be simple and won't require swapping as frequently as traditional orange and yellow decor."

8) All About the Textures (From Charter House Designs) | Instagram: @CharterHouseDesigns

"I love adding texture for fall! Whether it's a chunky knit blanket, a rustic wood accent, or muted florals & greenery, texture adds warmth & coziness. Try adding texture thru woven fabrics or weathered wood to transform your seasonal style."

9) Use What You Love! (From Cozy_Cole_Home) | Instagram: @Cozy_Cole_Home

"Im a hodgepodge-y project doer. I don't stick to decorating one room at a time. I wake up and decide what I'm most inspired to do, an dI do that as long as time & budget allows! The best decor tip... use things you absolutely love, no matter if they are "in" or not. If you do this, you will always love your space!"

10) Mix & Match! (From The Farmhouse Life) | Instagram: @TheFarmHouseLife

"Don't be afraid to mix styles. For instance, my favorite style is boho meets farmhouse. Your home should represent you... and who fits into one category?!"

11) Layer, Layer, Layer (By Home With Kelly) | Instagram: @HomeWithKelly

"Create cozy spaces in your home by layering! Layer pumpkins, mums, greenery, candles, and don't forget to add lots of textures. Soft blankets & throw pillows go a long way to help create a cozy fall ambiance."

13) Transition Through all Seasons (By ME Sublime Designs) | Instagram: @MESublimeDesign

"When decorating for Fall, I like to use elements that will cary through the winter & Christmas season. Base elements, such as buffalo plaid comforters, table runners, and cozy blankets are perfect for this! You can easily switch up the accent pillows & decor to transition from Fall, Thanksgiving, then Christmas!"

14) Accent Walls (by House of Hanes Interiors) | Instagram: @HouseofHanesInteriors

"Accent walls are a great way to break up a large room or add a unique design element. Don't shy away from bold colors when doing an accent wall! There are more ways to create it than just paint. Use wainscoting, wallpaper, decals, faux applicants, or a combination of all of these things!"
